Dogs have a strong and natural desire to work and need a job. Jobs fulfill the needed release for mental and physical energy, that left unattended, may be directed through unwanted and often destructive behavior.
Soft Mouth Retrieval teaches the dog to gently (without leaving teeth marks or chewing) retrieve objects upon command. The dog will learn to hold the object during commands and until the handler takes the object from them without any unwanted resistance. The dog also can learn to retrieve off of countertops, out of drawers, mailboxes, under other items, and inside other containers. Items that may be retrieved include: Wild game, cell phones, movies, credit cards, money, letters, water pails, drinks, television remotes, slippers, etc.
It is recommended to continue to scent detection to increase the potential of higher functions.
You and your dog will be required to have a minimum of on-leash and off-leash obedience.
