Dogs are social creatures in their natural state. They thrive on social interactions with their canine buddies, but every so often, mishaps happen.
Over-excitement, leash reactivity, fear-based aggression and shyness are common behaviors with under socialized dogs. Desert Dogs is committed to helping break the cycle of frustration with your dog on dog interactions and make it a pleasent experience. By using a dog's naturally strong social behavior, we help reduce stress and fear; build confidence and language skills, allowing for many common behavior problems to slip away. We use an advanced socialization process that focuses on dogs that are typically excluded from doggie day-cares and other socialization venues. Because of this fact, our Socialization Class offers us an opportunity to help dogs that otherwise might not be able to ever run with other dogs.
Our Socialization Class is unique in many ways, overwhelmingly though the chief advantage is safety. Unlike dog parks, dogs attending Socialization Class are screened for dangerous behavior. Dogs who are determined to be too dangerous are prepared through training to enter classes. In addition to this screening process, our classes have instructors who have been trained to recognize and avoid trouble before it starts. If the dogs do get into trouble, the instructors are there to get them out of it without making things worse. However, the class encourages dogs to work out their differences in safe and effective ways allowing them to learn to trust their own diplomacy. The result is an exceptionally well-balanced confident dog who can remain calm and attentive even when surrounded by strange dogs.
